What is reiki?

Reiki is an ancient Japanese healing technique that is non-invasive, energy based approach to relaxation and healing. Subtle, yet powerful, it is designed to stimulate the body's natural ability to heal itself on all levels - physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. Using a variety of different hand positions, on or just above the body. The aim of a reiki session is to increase the energy levels within the body, thus restoring balance, health, and wellbeing. In addition to its calming effect, Reiki also helps in reducing the symptoms of anxiety, digestive disorders, insomnia, and chronic stress. 


How does reiki work?

Our spiritual body is alive because of the "Life Force Energy" that is flowing through it. If our life force is low or blocked, we are more likely to become ill. However, if it is high and free flowing, we are easily able to maintain our health and well-being. When there has been physical or emotional trauma, the energy produced can stagnate within the body causing energy blocks. In time, these blocks can lead to illness. Reiki aims to help the flow of energy and remove these blocks. By improving the flow of energy, the body is able to relax, reduce pain, speed healing, and reduce other symptoms of illness. 

What does reiki feel like?

Everyone experiences reiki differently. Some people report feeling wave like sensations, tingling, or even hot or cold spots in the areas being treated. Others do not feel any physical sensations at all. Some experience emotional reactions (which is completely natural), while others simply fall into a deep state of relaxation. You do not have to feel anything in particular or at all for reiki to work for you. Most people walk away with a sense of lightness and clarity. 

How can reiki help me?

There are many ways that Reiki can enhance your overall wellness. Decreased stress levels, anxiety, or feelings of insecurity are all common reasons to seek a session. Many clients report that their patterns of negative self-talk lessen and that they are better able to handle stressful situations. Reiki can also improve focus and sleep quality. This helps to restore balance within your mind and body. It’s also a fantastic way to strengthen your intuition and spiritual practices. Like all healing modalities, the work you put in on your end will affect how long these benefits will take to achieve and/or last between sessions.
